My 5 favorite things to do in Geneva

    1. Chill at “La Jonction”
“La jonction” is a beautiful spot where two rivers (the Arve and the Rhône) join one another to become the same river: the Rhône. It’s a natural phenomenon you really shouldn’t miss out on. However, people don’t only go there to enjoy the nice view. It’s also a very cool spot to chill out with friends. On sunny afternoons, it becomes the edgy place where all young adults go to sunbathe, swim in the river, listen to music, and why not get to know other like- minded people. A fun activity is to rent kayaks or paddle boards and go with the flow, swiss style. You’ll be able to spend hours on the Rhône, seeing Geneva from a natural point of view, plus you can go as far as you like. During the tour, you’ll probably see people jumping off bridges into the Rhône, and hey, if you’re an adrenaline lover, you might be doing it as well (just make sure it’s a safe location to do it).

    2. Drink coffee at “La sixième heure”
Guys, this place is hands down, the best kept secret in Geneva. You’ll fall in love with the concept as soon as you hear it, at least I did. So, here’s the deal: it’s a coffee-restaurant- market. You can go there to have some tea, coffee, or any kind of beverage, and have something to eat as well. The vibe is great, the people are friendly, and the food is delicious. Honestly, they make the best cheesecake I’ve tried so far. Now get ready to have your mind blown, because this is the best part: you can buy absolutely every item there is in the room. From the chair you are sitting on to the cute vases in the corner, everything is for sale!

    3. Shop at the Plainpalais flea market
We all love good old shopping, but fast-fashion has its share of negative ecological consequences. Why not try something else, something new, or rather old… On Wednesday afternoons and Saturdays, the Plain Palais square becomes a huge flea market! If you’re into vintage stuff, you’ll definitely find what you’re looking for. And if you’re new to this, a piece of advice would be: patience. Traditional stores are easy because everything is in the place it’s supposed to be. The don’t expect it to be the same in flea markets. You probably won’t find what you’re looking for in the first stall but it’s okay, the trick is perseverance. Once you find your new baby, the joy you will feel will be three times stronger and well deserved.

    4. Visit World organization headquarters
Geneva is world famous for its international position. Since Switzerland is a neutral country, a lot of international organizations such as the League of Nations, the WTO and others are based here. It’s fascinating to see all of this world leading organizations next to each other. You’ll be completely submerged and surrounded by history, pretty cool don’t you think? My personal favorites are “Palais des Nations” “Palais Wilson” and “Centre William Rappard”. An afternoon of visiting these historical headquarters means learning about past international cooperation a little more. Because international organizations are such a big part of Geneva, I believe nothing could reflect this city better.

    5. Party at “La Gravière”
Last but not least, don’t miss out on wild parties while you’re here. Even though Switzerland isn’t famous for partying, we have some pretty awesome nightclubs. At “La Gravière” you can listen to all kinds of music: techno, hip-hop, tropical grooves, electro, disco etc. This building was originally a chemical laboratory and transformed into a nightclub about a decade ago. To get in, the prices are quite affordable (for Switzerland) and depending on the night, you’ll be supporting local musicians. So, if you’re down for some fun, I definitely recommend this treasure.
